FACE Middle East Fzc added Redington Gulf FZE to their list of satisfied clients in the Middle Eastern region earlier this year.
The floor within the new Redington facility, based in Jebel Ali Freezone, Dubai is the first ever Defined Movement 1 (DM1) fully compliant floor in the region. The floor was tested and certified by Face Consultants, a UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited organisation for flatness compliance testing.
FACE Middle East Fzc were invited by the main contractor to review the approved design for the floor slab. Following this review, the FACE Middle East Engineer team later attended site to supervise the commencement of the floor slab construction.
As with all FACE Middle East Fzc supervision contracts, the previous days panel was tested using the FACE Digital Profileograph. This immediate feedback was crucial for the main contractor team as the TR34 Appendix C DM1 specification is the most difficult to achieve. In total, 21 Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) slabs were surveyed by Face Consultants and certified as fully compliant with DM1.
Once the racking has been fitted in all the VNA area, the floor was ready for wire guidance installation. FACE Middle East FZC were asked to return and install the VNA wire guidance system to ensure continuous high standard and quality of work. Over 1.2km of VNA wire guidance was installed at the facility and connected up to the line drivers (frequency generators for the VNA trucks to follow).
Mr. Chidambaram, General Manager SCM, Redington Gulf FZE, who also heads the ADC Project, commented on the floor, “Floor Surface regularity is the most important aspect for a VNA Racking facility especially when the racking has a top beam height of 15 metres. The major objective to insist on DM1 flooring was to increase efficiency, better throughput, speed & the safety movement for all our Material Handling Equipments. We wanted to achieve the best possible result for our flooring surface. Face Consultants have provided a remarkable assistance. We are proud to be the first in the region to have a DM1 compliant Floor.”
