Casting 30,000m Multi Storey Warehouse Floor

LGA Logis Co. Ltd (LGAK), the CoGri Group company in South Korea has just completed the casting of a 30,000 m2 concrete floor to a multi-storey warehouse for ‘Nong Shim’ – a major Food Manufacturer in Korea.

The 2nd and 3rd floors were designed as Composite Slabs (Deckplate) with permanent steel decking.

In order to expedite the construction, the main contractor had no choice but to cast the floor, without a roof, in temperatures of up to 35oC – not recommended for a high quality direct concrete finished floor.
LGAK suggested the addition of Polypropylene Microfibres to reduce the risk of ‘Plastic Shrinkage’ cracking, which the client accepted.

The 2nd and 3rd floors were cast with the LGAK ‘Copperhead’ Laser Screed and the finished floor was surprisingly crack free.

The 11,000 m2 first floor was designed as a Bonded Topping slab with Steel Fibres and a Dry Shake Topping. The floor was constructed in November with the LGAK S-240 Laser Screed and the new CoGri Group STS-130 Topping Spreader, with daily casting areas of up to 2,000 m2.

Sample areas of the first floor were tested by Face Consultants (FACE) Korea in accordance with the clients instructions and the floor passed the TR-34 ‘FM2 Special’ specification with 99% of the floor passing FM1.

Although CoGri Group has been carrying out projects in South Korea since 1996, when FACE supervised construction of a Superflat Floor for 3M, 2007 was the first full year of trading for LGAK and has proved to be a success.

With a core team of staff and all the major equipment required now in place, LGAK is anticipating a good year in 2008 with many major projects such as ‘Nong Shim’.
