When Concrete Grinding Ltd was invited by Ciba Geigy, Singapore, to resolve a flooring problem it could not have been imagined that it would lead to major business ventures in Asia.
It is now 15 years since the paths of Kevin Dare, Managing Director of the CoGri Group, and Colin Thoms, Managing Director of Bequia Group, crossed during this project and resulting from this encounter, a strong partnership evolved between Kevin and Colin.
Concrete Grinding Asia Pacific was incorporated in Singapore in 1994.
In the following 6 to 7 years the company became a driving force in promoting flat floor technology in Asia. Also during this period a second company Laser Grinder Asia, Jersey (now known as LGA) was set up to facilitate the regional work following the success of contracts in China, Philippines, Malaysia and Korea.
In 2000 Concrete Grinding in Asia diversified its portfolio from consulting, testing and remedying floors to include the construction of high tolerance flat floors when the first truly superflat floor in Asia was laid at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Singapore.
By 2004, the North Asian market was blooming and covering the market through agents and joint ventures was not enough. By 2006 this led to incorporating LGA Logis and giving a solid base in North Asia.
Today, Concrete Grinding Asia Pacific, LGA and LGA Logis offer a comprehensive package of Global Flooring Solutions throughout Asia, either from major bases in Singapore and Seoul or from local bases located with associated companies. All three companies are joint venture companies of the CoGri Group and Bequia Group of companies.
Colin is a UK Chartered Civil Engineer and holds the status of Professional Engineer in Singapore. Colin started his career with Sir Robert McAlpine in 1974. He worked with them in Scotland and Barbados before leaving them in 1984 to work in Nassau, Bahamas.
In 1987, Colin was drawn to Asia where he worked for six years before starting Fastrack Projects, his own Design & Build Company.
Since 1993 Colin has built up a diversified group of companies in Asia under the banner of his holding company Bequia. Fastrack is wholly owned by Bequia and is currently providing Design and Construction management services in Singapore and China. Bequia also has a major stake in the Fast Flow group of companies with offices throughout Asia and Australia.
